Michael Jackson & Deborah Gibson

This picture was taken by Harrison Funk before Michael's show at The Forum. He met many of her family members as well and was so gracious to all.

Pay It Forward

Today started as any other day...responding to e-mails...except I was doing it from Deborah Gibson's guest room. A couple of e-mails were from Deb, which was amusing since she was in the house. When we realized we were both up, we got ready to hit the streets.

At one of our first spots, we pulled into a business driveway and a group of immigrant workers started running toward us. Within seconds, we were surrounded. We didn't have any work for them, but Deb immediately felt for these men. Before we walked in to the business, she turned to me and said "I am going to give those guys some money." She grabbed her cash, got out of the car and personally gave each man $20. They were so appreciative...Deb was teary-eyed. When we got back in the car to drive to our next destination, a couple more immigrant workers came running toward the car. Deb realized they were not in the original group so she rolled down her window and gave them each $20.

Now you may be thinking why does Deb carry that much cash? Well she had lost her purse at the Chicago Pride Fest during the weekend so her cards had been cancelled and she was hanging on to the cash from her merch sales from the Denver Pride Fest and Chicago Pride Fest. Luckily the purse was found and returned today.

We should all take note and pay it forward. Do your part to help those less fortunate. If you would like to help kids wanting to attend a performing arts camp, check out the Gibson Girl Foundation.

Remembering Michael Jackson

I have always been and will always be a fan of Michael Jackson. I remember asking my parents to buy me the red jacket with glove and sunglasses, which I still have today. He influenced my life, from his music to the way he danced and performed. Michael Jackson will always be the King of Pop. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Deborah Gibson states, "I met Michael and he told me he had just watched a Disney special I did. I was blown away by the thought of THE Michael Jackson sitting there watching me on TV. He then invited me to be in his "Liberian Girl" video. I actually was one of the few who got to sing a little snippet live over his vocal. To say it was an honor is an understatement. At 14, I had the red jacket and glove. I was a huge fan. He was a sweet person and lived up to everything you wanted him to be when you met him. He had a receiving line an hour long before his concert at the Forum. To personally meet so many people and then put into his show the energy he put in was astounding. I don't think it's about the time someone is on earth but the impact they leave. He did more for humanity and for music in 50 years than anyone could. It's a shock and I'm most saddened by the fact that a) I believe there was more music in him and b) he leaves behind three young children. Everyone feels this immeasurable loss. He was an American treasure."

Brian Anthony states, "If you look at who I am as a performer/musician/songwriter/producer - you will see the reflection of 5 influential figures in music that I admire and strive to someday be like. Of that list, Michael Jackson is the very first. It was this icon's example that first exposed me to what I wanted to evolve into. I am only at the beginning of my road, but, the truth is, I don't know that I would have come close to getting here if it wasn't for his creative and powerful inspiration that taught me to follow my passion that feeds a fire - only a performer knows. I am heartbroken by his passing. I will continue on my path as I dance, sing, create - knowing I am a better musician - and a better person - for being touched by his talent - and accompanied by his legacy. To the Jackson family, I offer my sincerest and deepest condolences - as the world morns the loss of an amazing man and celebrates his incredible life and gifts we have been blessed to be left with."

Brian Anthony in Music Connection Magazine

Buzz Entertainment recently distributed a press release about Pop and Dance Recording Artist Brian Anthony. Tom Kidd at Music Connection Magazine said he would cover it in his column in the June 2009 issue. Well it's June and the issue is out! Check out page 32. Interesting to note that a space matters because the last name of Buzz Entertainment's President is Neff - not Neffat. ;)
